School Visits

As an advocate for children’s literacy and art I enjoy the opportunity to share my passion for reading and writing with students! During my school visits I read my books, share my main character dolls, and teach art drawings. Readings are interactive where I ask the students to participate. I will also answer Q&As.

For K-2 grades I offer artwork tutorials and/or free coloring pages.

For third grade and older I offer PowerPoint presentations on the following topics:

  • How to come up with an idea

  • How to build a story

  • How to edit a story

  • How to write in rhyme

  • How to write in poetry

Washington State Schools
I am available for school visits a two-hour drive from Bellingham, WA. Most visits are 1-2 hours ranging from $200 to $400. More info here.

Virtual Visits
For schools outside of the area virtual visits can be reading and a Q&A or can include one of the options above. Virtual visits are 1 hour and cost $100. Here is an example of a virtual Q&A I did with Second Star the Right Books.

Out of State Schools and Under-Served Schools
For out of state schools with funds I charge $1000-$2500 for an in-person visit depending on location. For under-served schools, I work with teachers and librarians to raise funds for me to visit with part of the funds used to buy paperback versions of my books for the students.

  • School Visits

School visits can be by classroom or in a gym. I find younger students participate best when they sit close to me while I read my books.

  • Coloring Pages

I offer coloring pages from my books as well as activities for how to draw an umbrella or how to draw a cowboy hat or decorating masks.

  • Character Dolls

I share dolls of the main characters in my books. Younger students are more tactile so they love to touch the dolls after I read the books.
